DVD Shrink is a freeware DVD transcoder program for Microsoft Windows that uses a DVD ripper to back up DVD movies. The final versions are 3.2.0.15 (english) and 3.2.0.16 (german), all other versions like DVD Shrink 2010 are scams. Step 1. Start the DVD Shrink Program and choose Open Disc from the menu above.

Step 2. A box will appear. Choose which DVD drive your disk is in. Mine is in F: drive. The name of the disk will show up in brackets. In this case it is called NEW.

Step 3. Press OK. It will read the DVD.

Step 4. Shrink DVD size.
1) A breakdown of the movie will be displayed in the right hand column.
2) You cannot fit all this on your blank dvd so now press Re-author.
3) In the right column there will be a heading called Main movie. There will be a file under this heading. Drag this to the left column. The file size is usually more than 4,700mb and has to be compressed.
 
Step 5. Click on the "Backup" icon. This is where you will choose a folder for your ripped files. Once you make a folder, make sure the box is checked next to "Create VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS subfolders" and click "OK".
 
The movie will now play quickly in the viewing box, and you will see the progression of the rip. Once the rip is complete, the movie can be burned to a DVD-R automatically via DVD Shrink using NERO. Or if you have different DVD-burning software, you can open that manually and burn the ripped files as you normally would.
