First let me just say - THE JETS WON!!OK it's true I am not a huge football fan but I do have to watch the local teams when they are in the playoffs or Superbowl. And as I have 6 family members that I know were glued to their tv screens yesterday I also wanted to watch out of solidarity. William and I headed over to Hamburger Mary's aat 1PM and Stan joined us just in time for the kickoff, which we unfortunately missed because they were still playing the post-game from the Bears/Seahawks game. The game was exciting and we had a great time. It was great to see the Jets win, and even better to be able to send a gloating text to all of my Boston friends when the Patriots lost.Had early cocktails (well not me, but everyone else) at the Starlight Lounge (a/a/a William's place). Mark picked up some wonderful Mexican food at his favorite bodega. They had the most enormous cookies I've ever seen. The evening was wrapped up with the usual video offerings.

What a great first day here in the desert! I woke up early yesterday
and sat on my balcony for a little while looking at the mountains.
I then got dressed and headed over to Koffi, one of my
favorite places here in Palm Springs. Great coffee, and a
beautiful courtyard out back where you can sit and stare at the
mountains for hours. I didn't stay though - I got a couple of
coffees and some croissants and headed over to my friend Michelle's
to help her with her yard sale. I pulled away from the curb a
little too quickly and tipped over the entire tray of coffee and
milk.

Michelle was in the middle of her third panic attack when I
arrived and thrilled to see me show up. Having been through a
few of these I know that the buyers start showing up when they want
regardless of what time you tell them. She'd had people
arriving since before 7AM. I helped her set up and then
stayed for a few hours.

I would have stayed longer but when I got there I realized that
her house number was 1841, not 1842 as I had written on the
enormous box of supplies that I'd had shipped to her. I left
so that I could call UPS and reassure myself that my things were
not already on their way back to NJ. Fortunately they were
not scheduled to be delivered till Monday.

I spent the rest of the day shopping - Trader Joe's, Target, and
most importantly - the Apple Store! I am now the proud owner
of a Macbook Pro - my first official Mac ever. I admit it - I
love it. I was always happy with my previous computers but
this is the first time I have ever owned a computer that I can not
wait to use. Although it is so beautiful I almost don't want
to. I love it - I would marry it if I could.

Saturday night had a wonderful dinner at Tropicale with William
and his new man Mark, as well as friends Bev and Stan and our
friends from NY Lisa and Peter. Great food and a wonderful
evening. Everyone looked great and we laughed a lot.
One of the highlights of the evening was a new lip gloss that
Bev brought with her called See the Light - it has a built-in
mirror AND light in the container. Really amazing - I think
we all tried it.

Time to head to Koffi. I am so glad to be out here.

Well, I made it! After a snowy and stressful final week in NJ we had a smooth flight out west and landed in Los Angeles right on time on Friday. The whole trip went incredibly well - check- and security were quick and painless and the flight went fast. The best news was that when I got to the car rental office they upgraded me for free to a Mustang convertible which was exactly what I wanted! It was 80 degrees and sunny - i drove the entire way to Palm Springs with the top down and a huge smile on my face.My place looks great - clean and in perfect condition. I spent the first afternoon just unpacking and getting settled in. The energy I had in the car didn't last long - once I was done getting set up I was pretty much done for the night. I picked up a few staples at the store, had some disappointing thai food, and tried to watch a damaged dvd of Inception. I think I made it to about 9PM before I passed out.
