4:00 AM - iOS 5 Beta 2 Enables Recovery Mode Wirelessly On iPod
It is reported that Apple on Friday released iOS 5 Beta 2 for
developers, as discovered by ItsAllTech. The latest beta release
brings WiFi sync to the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. As an ipod
user, is it a great a good news for you?
Earlier today MuscleNerd confirmed that iOS 5 beta 2 can be
JailBroken using the previously released Redsn0w 0.9.8 b1. As
the tool is based on the limera1n exploit, so it is almost
impossible for Apple to close it anytime soon. However, the
untethered JailBreak could be an issue in the coming months.
Someone in the hacking community need to find a solution for it
till iOS 5 comes out of beta.
The build number of iOS 5 beta two is listed as 9A5248d.
Apple has released a total of nine separate builds of the beta OS:
three for iPad 2 (WiFi-only, GSM, CDMA), one for the original iPad,
two for iPhone 4 (GSM, CDMA), one for iPhone 3GS and two for the
iPod touch (third and fourth generation). No other devices will be
able to run iOS 5 when its official release. (Sorry iPhone 3G
users).
To use the new wireless syncing features, users must have the
newest iOS 5, iTunes 10.5 beta 2, and a Mac running Mac OS X 10.6.8
or OS X Lion. Users must then connect their device to their Mac
with a USB cable for the the very last time. This will allow them
to choose the wireless sync option. Once that's done, the USB can
be stored safely away.
As we know, when it comes to jailbreak our iDevices, it is
necessary for us to enable recovery mode as well as as an ipod user
we have to learn how to
transfer
music from ipod to computer. For the same purpose, we need to
find a data cable first, attach it to the PC/Mac and then follow
the instructions on Redsn0w, Pwnage tool or Sn0wbreeze. With the
functionality of syncing our iDevices wirelessly in the iOS 5 Beta
2, Apple has also enabled the process of recognizing the device in
iTunes into recovery mode without any wires.
It means that in future we will be able to push all the
JailBreaking data on our device wirelessly. It may also happen that
some of the software such as iFunbox or iPhone browser may
work on this principle (root access). We will rarely attach our
iDevice to our computer or netbook. As Apple is also integrating
the OTA (Over The Air) updates in iOS 5, upgrading your device
would be an easiest task, that is, you will not need to download
those heavy firmware files. We will keep you updated once we get
information on more features in iOS 5.0 beta 2.
WiFi Sync was one of the features toted at Apple's WWDC
event, and allows iOS 5 users to sync, their devices to their
iTunes libraries without a computer. WiFi Sync is automatically
activated when the iOS device is connected to a power source. Apple
also released iTunes 10.5 beta 2 and Apple TV OS 5 beta 2 alongside
the iOS 5 beta 2. Stay tuned, we'll keep you updated on the latest
iOS 5 news and updates.
