There will be times when printing jobs not only need to be done fast, they also need to be done in bulk. This holds true for a number of offices whose operations include printing more documents and correspondence than what is normal for other workplaces. An ordinary printer using a standard black cartridge might be overwhelmed by the work it is expected to fulfill. The cartridge is also likely to leak or break down just when it's needed the most, and this is especially true for refurbished cartridges that are notorious for smudges, blurs, and other unwanted results on paper. Having a copier could be an option because it produces more output in considerably less time but the quality of the output cannot even closely mimic that of any original template, thus making the copier a poor substitute.

For black or grayscale printing jobs that require greater quantity without compromising the quality of the output, Hewlett-Packard offers the HP 05X Black LaserJet Toner Cartridge, better known by the model code CE505X. The HP CE505X is essentially the CE505A model of cartridge compatible with the HP LaserJet P2055 series of monochrome printers and providing the same hassle-free performance but is optimized for high-volume printing work needed by some offices and individuals. As opposed to the CE505A whose average yield is rated at 2,300 pages, the HP CE505X can print up to 6,500 pages, with the superior clarity and sharpness of text and of images being consistent from the first page to the last, before it finally runs out of toner. One satisfied user has even claimed that her cartridge lasted a full year by the time she finally had to replace it, and that was after using it to print multiple letters almost every day!

Unlike the CE505A which may be used with both the HP P2035 and P2055 printers, the HP CE505X may be used only with the P2055. P2035 users would have to switch to P2055s if they want to achieve the best possible results with the CE505X. Using the CE505X in the office has the added benefit of not having to change cartridges as often to do the same volume of work, therefore allowing printing by the bulk to be done with as few interruptions as possible.

The CE505X is priced anywhere between $124 and $212, thus making it more expensive than even the baseline CE505A, but its ability to take on heavy-duty printing jobs with greater efficiency than its contemporaries justifies the high cost. As with every item in the HP product line, the CE505X works best when it's fresh out of the box. Refurbished and imitation cartridges are much less expensive but they offer varying degrees of output and are even prone to fail while operating due to their often substandard assembly. Only brand new CE505Xs will produce huge quantities of high quality output every single time down to the last ounce of toner. Using this cartridge can even help the environment because like all other HP cartridges, it's partly made from recycled material
