"Virgin Threatens Legal Action Against Sky Over Fee Dispute

nounced on Monday that following Sky's withdrawal of its basic channels from the Virgin Media TV service, it will pursue action in the high court if the carriage dispute is not resolved within 30 days.

Historically, Sky and Virgin Media have each retailed the other's channels to their customers: Virgin Media TV channels, such as Living and Bravo, have been retailed by Sky to its customers; and Sky's basics channels have been retailed by Virgin Media to its customers.

However, in the past few months, Sky has sought to increase the price for its basic channels, whilst cutting the price it pays for Virgin Media TV's channels, a state of affairs which has led to the loss by Virgin Media customers of several of the main Sky channels.

According to the group, owned by Richard Brason:

"Virgin Media is challenging the pay TV giant for its abuse of dominance."

"The remedies sought will include supply of Sky's basic channels at a reasonable commercial rate, as well as fair payment for Sky's carriage of Virgin Media TV channels, such as Living and Bravo. Virgin Media will also seek damages if the dispute is not resolved."

Virgin Media's CEO Steve Burch added:

"We are not interested in prolonging this dispute any longer than necessary but we will not allow Virgin Media or our customers to be the victim of Sky's market power. In the interest of the consumer, we want these issues resolved quickly."

My Bit :

Sky seem to be playing the game very unfairly, it's not like Virgin did anything dirty. It's a sucker for Virgin customers they just lost some of the best channels around and the best programs e.g; Lost, 24 - the stuff you couldn't live without.

Quotations Blowing My Mind!

I lot of them got me thinking and I'm certain it's 'ditto' for anyone else who reads this. Each quote kind of gave me an idea for it's own circumstance. I was first inspired for a lust for quotes with Google's 'quotes of the day' enabled on the customized homepage. All of them require some thinking but I'm sure anyone could work them out. They're not the most extravagant of sentences but they're all true and they all have their own story. it might not seem interesting, but, oh boy, it is.

What a day..

Well for starters the laptop jack has been playing up for a week, and today just slapped me in the face..Well the fan on the heatsink in the laptop was outputting a strong 'plastic burning' smell...Not good. It managed to run off the battery fine (Until it ran out).

So First) Even when AC was plugged in it wasn't running of the mains it was running of the battery.

Then) The jack was been a fag, Was only working in some positions or with pressure

And finally) The damn thing burns out...

I'm not actually sure what the problem is. I don't really know much about this stuff, I'm asked the guy who sold it me about it and awaiting a reply. I don't have an idea what a new power supply/heatsink price would be for a Clevo laptop..

AND THAT'S NOT ALL!

All my coursework was on it! I'm going have to take the hard drive out and get the data i need from it..somewhere..since i don't have another laptop I'll have to use someones to transfer it onto my memory stick.

So now i'm back on my desktop. I got a new mainboard for it so it's all fine now...I just need to get the laptop sorted out.

Generally i don't think i've actually done anything today..Probably just played on the Wii and Watched TV, Considering orange (MY ISP) is playing up...i can't really go on the internet much...It's like a 10 minute loop , ratio On:Off - 10:1 Minutes, 1 minute per ten don't seem so bad but when i'm on a game or browsing it's VERY frustrating!

Intro.

I though i'd start a new diary :) Maybe it'll even help with my literacy skills.

Today has been harsh and so it will be for the rest of the term. I've been concentrating a lot on my cisco network engineering course. But there's also a lot of core subjects that i'm behind on.

My injuries are mostly healed now, I can walk on the leg. I'm back to normal life, I'm all done with maxillofacial surgery.

I've currently passed all the cisco exams 9/14, But the class is on exam 11, I really to catch up, But i want the best mark possible on the exams, which is more than can be said for the other students of the class...Some just thinks it's fine to scrape a pass, somehow i don't think that'll help their end grade. I've been averaging at like 90% but the revision isn't nice. As for history and drama, Well, it's not looking good the teachers ain't really considering mu situation and piling me with coursework, I've tried my best to organise it but their deadlines are killing me. I have a 'educating rita' and 'a midsummer's nights dream' essay due on monday.

I think tonight i'll probably do some maths. It's not that i like it, It's just naturally easy.

Well, I'm off now. Just thought i'd express myself on justjournal ^^
