mbsd 7:33 AM - mDNSResponder
Over the weekend, I connected mDNSResponder in src to the build. mDNSResponder is apple's implementation of multicast DNS.
Currently, the mdnsd and dnsextd daemons as well as the command line tool dns-sd are available. I've also included the libdns_sd library.
FIles are located in src/contrib/mDNSResponder and src/apache/

mbsd 5:26 PM - libdispatch
MidnightBSD 0.3-CURRENT now includes Apple's libdispatch. With libdispatch, you can create multithreaded applications with ease.
The current port does not include blocks support. We plan to add llvm to the base system in the future. At that time, we'll setup libdispatch to work with blocks.

mbsd 12:34 AM - New Mirror
We have a new mirror for midnightbsd. The download page has been updated to reflect the removal of the EMU CS department mirror and the addition of the new mirror. I also updated most of the metalink files for releases as well.
Another place to get MidnightBSD :)

mbsd 11:32 AM - AMD64 0.3-CURRENT snapshot
I just posted the first AMD64 snapshot to the FTP server for CURRENT since 0.2. It does not include mports or packages, but will allow you to install MidnightBSD 0.3 to get up to date hardware support and try out features such as mport tools / libmport, and ZFS.

jjsite 5:49 PM - Server Downtime
Friday morning, we had the boot drive in our server fail. It was an Imation 32GB SSD drive that was purchased on December 27, 2009 and installed in February. The whole point of a SSD is greater reliability and we've learned that's not the case.
The drive is still readable (mostly) but writes to the disk are failing.
About half the services are back up on the server, and this site is one of them.

raven 4:35 PM - And they'll all be surprised when the candidates revolt
Last spring I ended up doing several interviews (since I was unemployed at the time) and I know several people doing interviews right now.
What passes for acceptable is amazing.
One company contacted me for an interview, I replied via email and then poof nothing. I waited until the next day, sent another email to verify they received my last one. Well, I guess the recruiter decided to read my resume and not interview but didn't plan on telling me. The way I looked at it all the fail was on http://www.barracudanetworks.com/ns/?L=en.
I waited in rooms for 20 or 30 minutes. I answered stupid questions, and suffered through awkward office tours ("See the office you'll never work in, etc...").
When the job market becomes a candidate's market again, some companies will be in for a shock.

midnight 2:56 PM - Exciting stuff
Mommy and Daddy bought me something extra special. I don't want to say what it is until everything is in place.
New territory.
